Bloomquist has two Bassets of his own. Stanley, a six-year-old tan and white and Samantha, a nine-year-old tricolor.
Bloomquist first became interested in Basset rescue work, when Sam's twin sister showed up on his doorstep. While trying to find her a new home he met many other people who were also looking for someone to adopt their Bassets.
Bloomquist decided that he would use his expertise on the Internet to start The Basset Locator which is still under construction. He hopes that the world wide distribution of the Web will help him to find new owners for the wayward pups.
Since starting The Basset Locator, Bloomquist has had inquiries from around the world. This is good news for people in search of companionship and even better news for the Bassets, as their alternative is euthanasia.
Bloomquist says that The Basset Locator is a Not For Profit endeavor and that all resources are either donated or paid for by friends and/or members.
If you would like to adopt a Basset, or find out more about The Basset Locator or if you have a Basset that needs a new home, send E-Mail to sysop@basset.com.
