In response to the Basset Den's solicitation of photos, I am sending three photos of the four Bassets we have owned over the last 30 odd years along with short notes.
I hope they are of interest.
Jerry Evenden.
Our first basset, Mandy, at about 10mos.
A breeder rescue because original owner's child was allergic to dogs. We acquired her at about 9mos.. A sweet disposition and helped raise our two sons. One strange habit she had was sleeping with her back legs straight to the rear, parallelling her tail.
Difficult to say anything nice about Clyde. Regretably, he had a loose screw and except for typical stubborn basset behavior was not at all sociable. But we kept him for his natural life and, despite his behavior, he was comfortable and looked after. Luckily, we did not give up on bassets because of him.

Both were rescued---Chelsea from a family whose daughter was allergic to dogs and Erasmus (Raz) from a young school teacher who "fell in love with the doggie in the window" but quickly decided she really couldn't keep him. Chelsea was about 3 years old when we got her and when introduced to Raz, already with us for about 2 years, they partied 'til midnight.
Chelsea tends to be bossy and I call her *Ms.* Chelsea. She does not ask to go out, she *tells* you that it is time to go out. She always likes people and can't understand when some do not come over to meet her.
Raz was the most gentle and loving dog I have ever encountered inspite of his probable background of being a product of a "puppy mill" (the original owner had purchased him from the now defunct Dr. Pet).
